Rinomata Cantina Tombacco Origine I.G.T. Terre Siciliane 2016 £18.50
Rinomata Cantina Tombacco Origine I.G.T. Terre Siciliane 2016 is a captivating Sicilian white that brings warmth to the glass, crafted from Grillo and Zibibbo. Expect a layered, aromatic style where delicate dried-fruit character meets exotic spice. On the nose it feels inviting and complex, with notes of apricot-like sweetness, tamarind tang and a gentle touch of vanilla. There’s also a distinctive savoury edge reminiscent of aged tobacco leaf, giving the wine a memorable signature rather than a predictable finish.
With its expressive palate and elegant balance, this is a superb choice for drinkers looking for something outside the ordinary. The 2016 vintage shows depth without losing freshness, making it ideal for pairing with grilled seafood, creamy pasta, or a selection of cheeses. If you’re exploring the Rinomata Cantina range, this bottle offers a stylish taste of Sicily—bold enough to stand out, yet refined enough to share.

Italy
The ancient Greeks called Italy "Oenotria" meaning wine land and its inhabitants are today as passionate about their wines as ever. Hand in hand with this passion goes an intense commitment to local styles and local grape varietes, of which there are said to be more than 500. Yes 500 different varieties! As a result, Italy produces a wider, more fascinating range of individual, characterful wines than anywhere else in the world. And over the last two decades in particular, Italy's very finest wines have improved out of sight and their star is still on the rise. If anyone is going to truly challenge the famous names of France for supremacy in the battle for the hearts and minds of wine collectors the world over, it's the Italians. Bordeaux, Burgundy and Rhone look out. Here comes Tuscany, Piedmont and Puglia!
Sicily
Blessed with consistently bright sunshine and reliably moderate rainfall, Sicily's classic Mediterranean climate is ideally suited to the production of wine grapes. The warm, dry climate means that mildews and rots are kept to a minimum, particularly in well-ventilated areas which benefit from coastal breezes. This low disease pressure means that chemical sprays are hardly needed, so much Sicilian wine is produced from organic grapes.
