Catalunya
Catalunya is a vibrant wine region in north east Spain, where the landscape does much of the work for the grapes. From the Mediterranean coast to inland valleys and the foothills of the Pyrenees, you’ll find a mix of cooling sea breezes, sun baked slopes and diverse soils. That variety is one reason Catalan wines can feel so distinctive from bottle to bottle, even when they come from nearby vineyards.
In this range you can explore classic styles that reflect the region’s long winemaking traditions. Expect to see everything from bright, refreshing whites to fuller, fruit forward reds, as well as sparkling wines made using traditional methods. Many producers also work with indigenous varieties such as Xarel·lo, Macabeo and Parellada for whites, and Garnatxa, Carinyena and Tempranillo for reds, giving a sense of place that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.
Whether you’re choosing a wine for a casual meal or something a little more special, Catalonia offers plenty of flexibility at the table. It’s a region well worth sampling if you enjoy well balanced wines with real character.
